A 37-year-old man and 21-year-old man were recently arrested in Bergen
County on multiple charges, including accusations of
After a string of recent burglaries, Bergen County investigators began
surveillance of the 37-year-old.
Police reported that they spotted the man near his home, in company of
the 21-year-old, behaving in a manner officers claim was suspicious.
Police followed the men, watching them dispose of allegedly stolen property
in a trash can outside of an Englewood apartment complex.
The men were then arrested and a warrant and search led to the finding
of stolen property. Police also found hollow-nosed bullets during the search.
Both men are being held on bail, but the older individual faces more serious charges.
Not only is he being accused of burglary and theft, and possession of burglar's
tools, but he is also being charged with a number of weapons-related charges,
including possession of illegal ammunition.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Burglary Task Force was part
of the operation that led to the arrest of the two. The task force serves
a number of cities in the area and is comprised of officers from the local
The departments include Allendale, Dumont, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs,
Fort Lee, Hackensack, River Edge, New Milford, Ramsey and other communities.
The older man also has a criminal record that could weigh against him,
should he be convicted of the charges currently against him.
