Elmwood Park, Bogota men jailed for sexual assault

Two Bergen County men have been charged with sexual assault, law enforcement officials said last week.

The Elmwood Park men, 24 years old and 21 years old, are accused of raping a 22-year-old woman and recording the event on a cell phone and then showing the digital recording to others.

The woman was described by the prosecutor's office as an acquaintance of the two men. The alleged attack is said to have taken place in the home of a third acquaintance.

The two men charged face accusations of aggravated sexual assault and invasion of privacy.

They were put in Hackensack's Bergen County Jail on $500,000 bail each.

In an unrelated case, a Bogota man was arrested earlier this month and accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

The 20-year-old man faces charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Bergen County prosecutor's office.

The man reportedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl over a six-month period spanning 2011 and 2012.

The Bogota Bulletin reports that police were notified of the relationship by the girl's parents. An investigation was then launched by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Special Victims Unit and Bogota law enforcement.

The newspaper reports that the 20-year-old is an acquaintance of the teenager.

He was arrested in Paramus and jailed with a $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

All three of these men in these two cases would do well to decline to speak with prosecutors until after they've discussed their cases with an experienced, effective criminal defense lawyer.
