A 29-year-old man from Cliffside Park, New Jersey, was taken into custody earlier this month and charged with sexual assault by the Bergen County prosecutor.
Investigators claimed the man had engaged in sexual abuse of an underage girl.
The female acquaintance complained about the purported attack to Cliffside police. Officers from the Special Victims Unit of the county prosecutor's office were involved in the investigation and arrest.
The arrestee works in the kitchen of the Jersey Boys Grill, a restaurant in New Milford. Formal charges lodged against him include second degree endangering of the welfare of a child, as well as aggravated sexual assault in the first degree.
The arrestee is currently in the Bergen County Jail after being unable to post 10 percent of a court set $250,000 in bail. The court also took possession of the arrestee's passport and barred him from attempting to contact his accuser.
In an unrelated case, another Cliffside Park man was arrested March 14 on accusations that he trespassed in the home of a 15-year-old girl and tried to sexually assault her, using a threat of hurting her with some broken glass to frighten her into compliance.
The incident allegedly occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on March 13.
The 23-year-old arrestee also reportedly knocked over a five-year-old child in the home during the incident, police stated. The arrestee was reportedly a prior acquaintance of the family.
Investigators were summoned to the home after the 15-year-old girl called 911 to complain. Bail was set at $500,000, which the arrestee was unable to post.
Pending charges include sexual assault, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, and making terroristic threats.
