Two men and a woman were recently charged in Bergen County with serious
traffic offenses and criminal offenses that could result in incarceration if they're
convicted on all charges.
Two men, ages 28 and 19, were driving Ferraris last Sunday morning and
were reportedly in a crash that killed a motorcyclist. The two were charged
with death by auto, officials said, after the crash near MetLife Stadium.
According to officials, the men were driving at "a high rate of speed" on Berry's Creek Road North in East Rutherford when one man lost control of a Ferrari and hit two curbs. The other lost control of his vehicle moments later and careened into oncoming traffic, where he slammed into a motorcyclist, 56.
The men work for an Englewood firm that rents high-end vehicles to people to drive around a track near the stadium.
In another, unrelated case, a Passaic woman, 50, was charged with assault by auto after she allegedly caused a crash that injured three people in Cliffside Park.
She's accused of driving while intoxicated on April 2, when she reportedly slammed a car from the rear without attempting to stop her vehicle, officials said.
Law enforcement officials said they found a container of liqueur in her purse. She reportedly failed a field sobriety test at the scene of the accident.
Two people in the other car, including a man, 73, were injured, as was a passenger in the 50-year-old woman's car.
The woman was released from Bergen County Jail after posting a $25,000 bond.
