Two accused of robbing Bergen County 7-Eleven store

Police in Bergen County have accused a man and a woman, both 21 years old, of armed robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store in New Milford.

The man was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police claim that the man entered the store at around 3:45 a.m., donning a ski mask before doing so. They said that he brandished a firearm and then took approximately $200 from the store's register, as well as stealing a number of cigarette lighters on display.

A media account of the robbery indicated that the man also requested a store employee to unlock a case in which cigarettes were kept, but that the employee ran away frightened, preventing any cigarettes from being taken.

Police searched for the man on the basis of identifying information from the store's manager, searching for him with officers drawn from several municipalities as well as a team including a K-9 dog from the Bergen County Police Department.

They ultimately arrested the male suspect at his present home after first going to a prior residence. Also present was the female suspect, who police accused of having parked in a car close to the store while the robbery was taking place, furnishing a getaway vehicle. She was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

A search of the residence found the money taken from the store, according to police, as well as the missing lighters and a pellet gun they claimed was used during the robbery. Bail for the man was set at $200,000, and the female arrestee's bail was set at $75,000.
