A New Jersey man has recently experienced a series of negative outcomes based on one flawed decision. He has been charged with a crime in connection with the matter and will now need to prepare a criminal defense. As the case moves forward, many readers will sympathize with the swiftness with which one decision can spiral into disaster.
The matter began when witnesses reported seeing the man drive his pickup truck out onto the ice of the Toms River on the first day of March. The driver was reportedly doing doughnuts on the ice shortly before the truck broke through and was submerged in the icy water. He was able to escape from the vehicle, but he could not pull his dog from the truck before it was fully submerged.
The 27-year-old driver not only lost his truck in the river, but he also lost a beloved pet. He also could have easily lost his own life had he not been able to climb out of the vehicle before it went under the surface. In addition, he is also now facing criminal charges for animal cruelty because of the dog's death.
As this case moves forward, it will be interesting to see how the court handles the matter. When a New Jersey resident faces any criminal charge, regardless of the situation that resulted in the charge being leveled, he or she has the right to defend him or herself in court with the help of a criminal defense team. Until proved guilty in a court of law, he or she will be presumed innocent.
